"I have everything I want, and I'm still not happy."
"I wouldn't know self-compassion if I tripped over it."
"I don't know how to let myself off the hook."
Sound familiar? I know what it’s like to feel like no matter what you do, it’s never good enough. To talk to yourself in a way you wouldn't talk to your worst enemy. I can help. I’ve worked with clients to help them develop and sustain healthy relationships, with others, and–more importantly–with themselves.
I've always wanted to offer people who are suffering a place where they can be emotionally safe and expressive. I found such a place when I was hit with postpartum depression after the birth of my second child, and it was an invaluable refuge for me. There, I learned about the wisdom traditions of eastern cultures, and how meditation and mindfulness can help us today with "modern" problems like anxiety, depression, and attentional challenges. Inspired by this work, I went back to school for a master's degree in marriage & family therapy. I continue to study how eastern practices, along with techniques such as guided visualization, can help us let go of painful experiences and mind-states, improve our mood, and build better relationships.
I offer affordable consultation to individuals, couples and families in the Columbus, Ohio area. I also offer parenting workshops, and write about issues affecting adolescent girls, women, and families. Consultation available in my Clintonville office, or online via Skype or Facetime.
