Two Little Obsessive Things
Here are two little things that keep popping into my mind, for no very good reason other than they are weirdly persistent, like bamboo, planter’s warts, and that guy I dated briefly in 1998:
1. On the Lifehack.org entry entitled “How to Exit A Conversation Quickly,” there’s a long list of “smooth” ways to exit a conversation that’s gotten out of hand. They range from the polite to the pointed, but all require some thought and finesse and weasling. This one, from the readers’ comments, though, I just loved, and think I will have to adopt it into my arsenal of annoying conversational habits:
Alvis says:Just tap out. Slap the nearest horizontal, flat surface with your hand, announce, “OK, I’m out!”, and walk away. It’s totally within regulations.
2. And this, from Toothpastefordinner, which I found from Joss’s site. It struck me as merely kind of cute at first, but I keep flashing on it, like everytime I open the door or think about Morty, whose voice I keep hearing this in:
Note to CMH’rs — I think these guys are Cols’ites, too.
